2. Information We Collect
2A. Information You Provide Directly
- Newsletter signup (The Drop): Email address.
- Vault membership purchase: Email address, name, and payment information (processed by Stripe; see Section 5).
- Free sweepstakes entry (AMOE): Full legal name, email address, and complete mailing address (street address, city, state, zip code).
- Referral submissions: Your email address and the email address of the person you refer.
- Communications: Any information you provide when contacting us via email or other channels.
2B. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device and browser information: Browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution.
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, click behavior, scroll depth, referral source.
- Network information: IP address, approximate geographic location derived from IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 7.
2C. Information from Third-Party Services
We may receive information about you from third-party services we use to operate the Services, including:
- Stripe: Payment status, subscription status, billing events (we do not receive or store your full credit card number).
- Email service providers: Email open rates, click rates, bounce status, and delivery status.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Delivering the Services: Sending The Drop newsletter, processing Vault membership transactions, providing Deal Engine codes, administering Sweepstakes.
- Sweepstakes administration: Processing entries (both automatic and AMOE), selecting winners, verifying eligibility, delivering prizes, maintaining records for compliance purposes.
- Personalization: Tracking newsletter engagement (opens, clicks) to calculate bonus Sweepstakes entries and to improve content relevance.
- Communications: Sending transactional emails (purchase confirmations, entry notifications, winner notifications), promotional emails (deal alerts, upsell offers), and operational emails (service updates, policy changes).
- Analytics: Understanding how the Services are used, measuring performance, and improving the user experience.
- Legal compliance: Fulfilling tax reporting obligations for Sweepstakes prizes, responding to legal requests, and protecting our rights.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances:
4A. Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Services. Each provider receives only the information necessary to perform its function:
- Stripe, Inc.: Payment processing. Stripe receives your payment information directly and is subject to the Stripe Privacy Policy (stripe.com/privacy). We receive subscription status and billing event data from Stripe but do not store credit card numbers.
- Supabase, Inc.: Database hosting. Subscriber records, entry data, deal information, and engagement events are stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database.
- Resend: Transactional email delivery. Resend receives recipient email addresses and email content for the purpose of sending transactional emails (welcome sequences, purchase confirmations, winner notifications, deal alerts).
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) Simple Email Service (SES): Bulk email delivery. AWS SES receives recipient email addresses and email content for the purpose of sending The Drop newsletter and batch communications.
- PostHog: Product analytics. PostHog receives usage data (page views, clicks, conversion events) and device/browser information for the purpose of analytics and product improvement. PostHog may use cookies or similar technologies. See Section 7.
4B. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, including subpoenas, court orders, or government investigations. We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hunter's Edge, our users, or the public.
4C. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4D. Sweepstakes Winners
Winner names and general location (city and state) may be published in The Drop newsletter, on the Site, and on social media channels as described in the Official Sweepstakes Rules. Winner names are available upon request as described in the Official Sweepstakes Rules.
5. Payment Information
All payment processing is handled by Stripe. When you purchase a Vault membership, your payment information is submitted directly to Stripe and is subject to the Stripe Privacy Policy. We do not receive, process, or store your full credit card number, bank account number, or other sensitive payment credentials. We receive only the information necessary to manage your subscription (e.g., subscription status, plan type, billing period, last four digits of card number for display purposes).
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
- Drop subscribers: Email address and engagement data retained for the duration of the subscription and for up to twelve (12) months after unsubscribing, for re-engagement purposes. After that period, data is deleted or anonymized.
- Vault Members: Account and billing data retained for the duration of membership and for up to twenty-four (24) months after cancellation, for tax, compliance, and customer service purposes.
- AMOE entrants: Name, email, and mailing address retained for the duration of the applicable Sweepstakes period and for up to twelve (12) months after the drawing, for compliance and audit purposes.
- Sweepstakes records: Entry data, drawing records, and winner information are retained for a minimum of four (4) years for regulatory compliance.
- Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
In the event of business cessation, all personal data will be deleted or anonymized within ninety (90) days of the cessation date, except where retention is required by law. Sweepstakes records (entry data, winner information, tax documents) are retained per IRS requirements regardless of business status. Subscriber email addresses and engagement data will not be sold, transferred, or shared with any third party as part of a business wind-down, except as described in Section 4C (Business Transfers).
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Services.
7A. Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential cookies: Required for the Site to function (e.g., session management, authentication if applicable).
- Analytics cookies: Used by PostHog to collect usage data for product analytics and improvement. These cookies track page views, clicks, and conversion events.
7B. Third-Party Cookies
PostHog may set cookies on your browser. PostHog's data practices are described in its privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.
7C. Managing Cookies
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through settings. You can block or delete cookies, but doing so may affect your ability to use certain features of the Site. Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser. Consult your browser's help documentation.
We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals because there is no industry-standard method for doing so. If a standard is established, we will update this policy accordingly.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8A. Access and Correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or request correction of inaccurate information, by contacting us at help@huntersedge.io.
8B. Deletion
You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at help@huntersedge.io. We will comply with your request to the extent required by law, subject to our retention obligations (e.g., tax records for Sweepstakes winners, regulatory compliance for Sweepstakes entry records).
If you are an active Vault Member and request deletion, your membership will be canceled and your information deleted in accordance with our retention schedule.
8C. Email Opt-Out
You may unsubscribe from The Drop or marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional emails related to your Vault membership (e.g., billing confirmations, winner notifications).
8D. California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. 8E. Other State Privacy Laws
Residents of other states with applicable privacy legislation (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and others) may have similar rights. To exercise your rights under any applicable state privacy law, contact us at help@huntersedge.io. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure database hosting (Supabase), and PCI-compliant payment processing (Stripe).
No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You provide information at your own risk.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 18, please contact us at help@huntersedge.io.
11. Links to Third-Party Sites
The Services contain links to third-party websites, including brand partner sites, content sources (MeatEater, Wired to Hunt, TacticalBassin, and others), and affiliate links. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect upon posting to the Site. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will notify active subscribers via email or through a prominent notice on the Site.
